About the event

Are you a trainee Farrier undergoing an apprenticeship in Western Australia? If so, this opportunity is for you!

In 2025, we celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the WA & Queensland apprentice exchange program, which is fully managed by two non-profit organisations: the West Australian Farriers Association (WAFA) and the Professional Farriers & Blacksmiths Association of Queensland (PFBAQ). This initiative exemplifies the cooperation between different states in Australia and underscores our associations' commitment to training the next generation of professional Farriers.

The successful candidate selected for this award will be afforded the opportunity to spend up to two weeks in Queensland. During this period, they will work alongside various professional Farriers, gaining experience with a diverse set of horses and environments. They will acquire new skills and gain a fresh perspective on multiple facets of the craft. The candidate will have the chance to compete in the Australasian Championships at the EKKA, which is the largest Farrier competition in the southern hemisphere. This event provides a platform for forging lifelong connections and the chance to see industry leaders in action.

The winning apprentice may utilize the association's equipment and facilities for fundraising purposes to cover their travel expenses.

How to Apply:

To apply for this award, applicants must be members of the WAFA and actively participate in the association's regular events. Applications should be submitted in writing to the committee, detailing why the applicant would be an excellent representative of WAFA and why they deserve consideration for this award. Submissions can be made via email to secretarywafa@gmail.com or by contacting the nearest committee member.
